March 22, 2011
Hello everyone,
Well this is my first official club communication as your President. I am very pleased to say that your new Board has really hit the ground running! It’s March and we are coming up on our third event of the year!
Both Martin Luther King weekend and the State Fair were a huge success and we not only had a lot of fun but we made some new friends. We have seen a lot of new faces lately and I hope that we continue to see them. These events also generate funds that go a long way to ensure the continued success of our club and I can say with confidence that we will be holding these events again next year so you can go ahead and start planning for them now. We have already been invited back to the State Fair and I want to thank board member Michelle Drain who was very instrumental in putting this event together as well as putting together an agreement for next year. Good job Michelle! I would also like to thank all the board members and club members who worked so hard to make these events possible. When you see them please let them know how much they are appreciated.
We are less than two weeks away from Sunshine Showdown and I for one am starting to get excited! The board has been working very hard in making preparations for the trials but the work doesn’t end until the trials are over, packed up and everyone is headed home. There is a lot of work to be done in setting up, tearing down and manning the events. We are always in need of volunteers so please try to make time to help out wherever you can. If you would like to volunteer some of your time contact a board member or just walk up and ask us where you can help. Anything would be greatly appreciated.
I am very proud of the work that the board has been doing along with the help of some of the membership. Some of them have taken on new roles and additional responsibilities. If you look around at the trials it won’t be hard to see that there have been a lot of new purchases as well as improvements made to equipment. Jim Williams is heading up our new equipment committee and along with Todd Smith has worked very hard to organize, revitalize or rebuild existing equipment. Good job guys. As I walked around and spoke to everyone at the State Fair I couldn’t help but to feel a new sense of pride in our club. The kind of pride that is associated with a job well done.
Thank you everyone and keep up the good work. I hope to see you all at the trails. If not, I hope to see you soon.
Rick
