My family and I came to Florida from Maryland in 1968. I also had my last child in 1968. In 1970 we bought a farm in Davie FL where I had a riding school-- South Wind Farm. One day I met a family that had a bunch of dogs including a 10" female Jack Russell, Susie. She was so small that the other dogs would take her food. The owner asked me to take her. My first 'rescue'. She was nine when I got her and I had her for 9 years. She was the Queen of the Farm. We went to all the horse shows. I taught Hunter and Equestrian for twenty-five years with her at my side most of them. I worked with the handicapped and she helped make friends with the kids. She loved going to horse shows and staying in motels. Soon after Susie came, a student gave me a Golden Retriever. My second 'rescue'. When Susie was 18 she died. I only wanted to replace her with one like her-- small, pointed up ears and funny teeth. Next, someone gave me Scruffy, a four month old. My third 'rescue'. He lived to be 15 yrs old and we went evereywhere together, even to Arizona where I worked for Jannet Sproels (Tortola Flat Terriers). She gave me Sparkle at eight weeks. We lived in a little house in the desert and mountains. I learned about Terrier trials and all the fun! I helped with Rescue and picked up Amy, a great Jack. We all came home to Florida to be with my five kids and six grandchildren in 1997. We now have ten Jacks in the family. Scruffy and Amy had four pups and their pups had five pups! I started agility in California. It and I have come a long way! I bred Sparkle and got five pups. Sage was my pick of the litter. She helped me enjoy agility and lots more like the Sunshine State Jack Russell Terrier Club! Scruffy and I started with the Gold Coast Club and enjoy GTG. I can't imagine owning any other breed of dog. JRs are wonderful! Thanks for being my friends, Audie
