Sanctioned Trials

The SSJRTC holds four JRTCA-sanctioned trials each year.  The first weekend in April (depending on Easter date) and the first weekend in November. Typical sanctioned events include Agility, Conformation, Go-to-ground, Racing, Super Earth and Trailing & Locating.  Participants in sanctioned events must be current JRTCA members.  Sanctioned event results are recorded with the national JRTCA.  SSJRTC membership is required for Membership Appreciation Day events only.

Several non-sanctioned events are also offered during these trials and usually include Barn/ Brush Hunt, Lure Coursing, Trailing & Locating and Thunder Tunnel.  Non-sanctioned events are open to non-members and any terrier not more than 15" in height at the shoulder.

Prizes and ribbons for both sanctioned and non-sanctioned events are awarded for 1st - 6th place in each class.  Special awards are also provided for Champion and Reserve Champion in each class.

Terrier Fun Days, Practice/ Workshop Events and Membership Appreciation Days

The SSJRTC typically hosts 2-3 Fun Days on varying dates throughout the year.  These events are structured similarly to a sanctioned trial including some awards but rules are relaxed and the watch word is fun!  It's all about the dogs and socializing with our friends.  Membership is not required and participation fees are reduced.

Practice/ Workshop Events are also organized 2-3 times each year to work our terriers.  Prizes are generally not provided for these events.    Membership is not required and there is typically no cost for participation.

A Membership Appreciation Day is generally held once during the year.  SSJRTC membership is required for participation.

Dates for Fun Days, Practice/ Workshop Events and Membership Appreciation Days are scheduled ad hoc during the year based on organizers' availability.  These dates are communicated via this website, special flyers and member emails.
