Speaking of Almost Home Rescue... (7-6-10)
As you may be aware, MaryLu Kinlaw with Almost Home Rescue here in Florida is VERY helpful to Jack Russell Terriers in need of a new home. She responds immediately when I send her the inquiries I get through the website from people looking to place a JRT. I can't tell you how important her responsiveness is when other organizations do not return calls. Unfortunately, more are looking to place one than to receive one.
Rachel and Nathan Wilson are on their third rescue JRT. Petey was first, then Jack and now Gracie, who they recently got from MaryLu and Almost Home. They are to be praised for helping JRTs in this way.
We do dedicate space on our Russell Rescue page of this site to Almost Home as well as the national JRT rescue Russell Rescue Inc. And we have been featuring the latest JRTs in need of new homes at Almost Home in our monthly Terrier Times eNewsletter.
MaryLu is now asking for more help. They are currently overwhelmed with JRTs and running out of space. She asks that our membership, a body of JRT lovers, to be sure and circulate their information each month to anyone they may know who could give these JRTs a good home. As well, to those who have the space to consider fostering a Jack for a limited time.
Thanks for your consideration and support. - Mel

Almost Home Russell Rescue Fund Raiser July 25th (6-30-10)
These economic times have hit Almost Home Rescue (like most rescues) very hard. It's a tougher climate in which to fundraise, but there are also more abandoned dogs needing rescue. You can help raise money for Almost Home July 25th from 3-6PM and it costs you nothing! Host bonuses will go directly to Almost Home Rescue. It's a win-win for you and for homeless Jack Russells!
For details and directions, contact Lesa and Michael Phillips at 727-656-4372 or via email at lesa74@yahoo.com
The Phillips' home is located in the Citrus Park/Carrollwood area of Tampa. All SSJRTC members are welcome.

Board Member Elections (6-30-10)
As mentioned in the Terrier Times e-newsletters of late, we have five board positions to fill for the 2011-2012 term during our Russell Mania trials this November. President, Secretary and three Director positions are up for election this year. The Vice President position may also need to be filled if a current board member runs for President. A couple nominations have been made and accepted. All nominees will be announced soon with photos and bios posted to the Board Members Bio page of this site.
Please do not wait to be asked!! Any club member in good standing (minimum 1 yr membership required) may run for a position on the board. As well, any club member may nominate another club member for a position. So volunteer yourself, nominate someone else and encourage others to run as well. Many current members have already served a number of years and the future of the club needs to step in now.
Visit the Elections page for information on the requirements and process.

Terrier Day Note From The Smith's (6-20-10)
Hey everyone.
Sorry it has taken us so long to do this but.......................
First of all, we would like to thank each and everyone of y'all for making last weekend one of the best weekends ever. We had a blast, and "hope" to have another or twelve just like it! We apologize if we leave anyone out here, and if we do, please "forward" this to them.
We have had Jack Russell's in our family for over 15 years. We just met all of you in April of 2009, while we were in Williston for a JRT trial. Since then, things have changed.
The Sunday morning after the JRT fun day at our house, we were sitting at our breakfast table having coffee with Melanie, as time went by, Don, Shelly, (who started to "shell" beans), Jason, Lorri and Rick came in too.
Anyway. I, (Todd), was sitting there watching and listening, and thinking. I was thinking that I didn't even know these people a little over a year ago, and now they are in my house having coffee, as if they were a part of our family. This where the "change" part comes in.
In my opinion, each and everyone of you guys ARE a part of our family. We look forward to the future events. It is kind of funny the way we all have met. Our meeting is based on a sweet little furry canine. Does anyone love their JRT more than us???? I don't think so. Isn't it amazing how these little balls of energy can bring so many people together.
We are very happy to be part of the SSJRTC, and hope we can have another event at our house.
If ANYONE of you ever need any help with anything, please just let us know.
Thank you, and be safe.
Todd & Debbie
Be sure to check out the Terrier Day photos in the Events album of the photo gallery.

Sunshine Showdown Thank You Note From Racing Judge
(3/30/10)
I just wanted to thank you both for a wonderful weekend - there was bad weather in Charlotte which delayed us getting home, but we made it. The flight times were perfect, and believe it or not, came in and departed within 2 gates of each other. No running across the airport to make connecting flights this time......smooth sailing all the way.
As usual, your club was well organized and everyone was great... The SSJRTC feels like family now. I really look forward to my visits, but if and when the time comes that they are ready for a new racing judge, I will completely understand. Just know that until that time comes, I will do my best for you.
Thank you for the judges bag.... I had fun poking through everything on the plane and ate the trail mix at the airport....
Take care, and I will talk to you all soon. Keep me in the loop about Linda, if you don't mind.
Love to everyone-
Anne Davis

2009 Russell Mania News
(11-11-09)
Thank You from Racing Judge Anne Davis: Thank you so much for the hospitality I received at the trial this past weekend. I just love you all, but I think you already know that. :) The racing set up was perfect and efficient, as always. See you in March, and have a wonderful holiday season. Please pass along my thanks to everyone for a great weekend.
Surprize Photographer Shares Some Photos: Gail Knight came to the trial and took a few pictures that she shares on her website. They're very good-- have a look! She is planning to come our trial in March and will take more than she did this time. Here's what she said:
Hello, This past weekend, I had the distinct pleasure of attending your Russell Mania event in Williston, FL. As an amatuer photographer, I went to try a new lens and to see what all the fun was about. I was not diasppointed. Not only were the dogs fun to watch, the people were most accommodating and friendly. What a great group you have!
I have posted some of my photos on my website. You are free to use them to post as long as credit is given to me as the photographer. Each photo is copyright marked.
Go to www.TemplarFarm.com and click on "Terrier Trials". I have been invloved in showing dogs for over 20 years... showing, breeding and judging Bulldogs, and I have seen nothing that compares to your JRT "games". You put the fun back into dogs!
